A little about me:
I've been playing the flute for 19 years and have been performing and teaching for the past 14 years. I've taught many flutists from young-old, beginning-advanced, male and female, and I even recently taught a Japanese student who didn't speak any English! I grew up in Logan, Utah where I went to High School and studied with Leslie Timmons from Utah State University. While in Logan I also played in a High School flute choir, in the University flute choir (when they needed extra help), and in the Cache Chamber Symphony.

I then moved to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah and study flute with Susan Goodfellow (who studied under Julius Baker and William Kincaid). I also studied conducting with Scott Hagen and Robert Baldwin on my way to receiving my Instrumental Music Education Degree. While in Salt Lake I helped found and run the University of Utah runnin' flUTES flute choir (I was even able to arrange a bunch of music for the choir as well as a piece we performed at the National Flute Convention). I also participated in the Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra, Marching Band, Pep Band, the New Music Ensemble, and multiple Intercollegiate Bands. I have also had the opportunity to play piccolo in the Olympic Spirit Band for the 2002 Winter Olympics, sub for the Orchestra at Temple Square, study with Carlton Vickers and Eric Graff, and (most recently) I am a member of the Utah Wind Symphony (a professional Wind Symphony under the direction of Scott Hagen).  I've also had many opportunities to play gigs around the community- everything from a Taize service to office parties to weddings.

I love flute choirs and have been involved in many- recently in the Professional Flute Choir at the Utah Flute Association Flute Festival in 2010.  I have learned and performed on the bass flute, alto flute, C flute, and piccolo.

After graduating with my BM cum laude I spent two years at Summit Academy (a high-end charter school) where I taught 5th grade, elementary music, and started their band/orchestra program.  The last few years we moved- for my husband's school- to Laramie, WY then onto Cheyenne, WY where I continued to perform and teach flute.  I'm excited to be back in Utah to teach the wonderful students that are here.

I love music and especially teaching music.  In addition to flute lessons I have also taught beginning trumpet, clarinet, and saxophone lessons.
